Fire Cadets visit Urban Search and Rescue team

My name is callum and I am a cadet at Manchester central fire station. I have been going cadets for about 3 months and up to now it has been great. We have done many activity’s like car washes, selling hats at heaton park and visiting the Urban Search And Rescue Team at Whitehill Fire Station. At whitehill we did many activity’s and got told how their fire
engine works and all the equipment carried on it. We then took part in a search and rescue exercise where we were required to go in this dark place that was a tunnel especially used for search and rescue training sessions and find our way to the other side. After we had done that we got told to go back in and get any equipment off the fire truck to go and save the dummy... it was hard work but great fun!! I have really enjoyed the last three months and I would encourage loads of other young people to join.. its great :-)

Cadets attend Leadership course

Hi all My name is Lucy I am a Fire Cadet at S16 Manchester Central Fire Station. Last month through the cadets I went on the peer leadership course with another Fire Cadet, I had a fantastic time it was a great way of meeting new friends from different fire stations and to get to know more about the people from other Fire Service cadet units and a great way of learning new things. This course has taught me a lot of new things such as how to teach lessons to other children also going on this course has boosted my confidence levels a lot, me and the rest of the cadets enjoyed going out to other stations and working with breathing apparatus we had a great time, if anyone was to get a chance to go on this course I would advise them to take the opportunity because I will guarantee that they will have a great time.. :-)
